In the night cold and dark, the season harsh as ever.
by thorns you lay, ethereal in nature,
taking hold only the glare of observant eyes.
A wonder of creation,
visibly fragile yet blissfully vibrant.
Not now, don’t wilt, don’t fade away
for your allure now keeps me whole.
Days past have taught to me to adore your rose,
bent in odd places and shapely to only my eyes.
Scarlet pay no mind to rustling winds and shuddering rain.
Give more thought to beaming sunshine than wintery pain.
Taste now the coming dew,
that brings forth bloom and casts away prior gloom.
Shine bright dear flower,
for as garnet gems your gleam is forever.
